NY Subway Map

I’ve always been a huge fan of Massimo Vignelli’s work. I loved his approach to graphic design, putting clarity and simplicity as main goals, discarding all the complex textures and fake effects used in the past. He was one of the first modernists and in 1972 designed a true masterpiece, the New York City Subway Map.
It is still on display at the MoMA, and, in my opinion, it’s one of the most beautiful pieces of design ever created.

In 2008 he developed a revised version, updated to the actual changes that took place in New York during that period of time.
This job wanted to be only an hommage to that beautiful piece, so I took the lines and the concept of the map and tweaked to my taste, trying to stick to the original idea and adding a bit of a 2013 infusion, simplifying even more the design.

I hope it worked, and that you’ll like it.
